I wrote a post called The Best Appliances. It was only a natural to post the two best companies, Sub-Zero and Miele. Best in this regard means quality of manufacturing and uniqueness of product.

I could write another post about best value, which would be Frigidaire and Jenn-Air or affordable luxury which might be Bosch and Thermador. But for our purposes, best is Sub-Zero and Miele.

Their best products:

Miele Dishwashers - I have written this a million times and it still impresses me. Every control, spray arm and component is manufactured by Miele. Such attention to detail begets a better product and less service issues.

Miele MasterChef - The Miele MasterChef has unbelievable controls and is pre-programmed for almost any type of meat, fish or poultry. Miele is one of the only companies to manufacture their own controls, so their products have a higher level of customization and sophistication.

Sub-Zero Wine Storage - Sub-Zero is the only wine unit to address the problems of long term storage. Wine is sensitive to heat, light, vibration and humidity. These factors can affect the taste of the wine. Sub-Zero has two separate evaporators and digital thermostats to control temperature, a Low-E glass door to refract UV rays and slide-out shelves to prevent vibration. Even the compressor is mounted on vibration absorbing rubber grommits.

Sub-Zero Professional Built-In Refrigeration - Sub-Zero manufactures the best refrigerator and is manufactured to keep food fresher longer with a vaccum seal and magnetic crispers to prevent air from entering the refrigerator. Perhaps the hallmark of a Sub-Zero refrigerator is their two compressor system, which eliminates stale air from being recirculated  from freezer to refrigerator. Three years ago, Sub-Zero added an air scrubber, which arrests gases in the refrigerator from rotting or decomposing food.
