New Samsung Washer & Sink Combination; Is it Worth Buying?

April 16th, 2015 | 2 min. read

The new Samsung Energy Star rated top loader with a built-in sink and water jet machine is the newest laundry available. Groundbreaking technology always excites us and our tech savvy customers as long as it works.

The logical next question is, is the machine worth the money and is it a reliable appliance? Let's look at Samsung and then the machine.

Samsung

Samsung is an extremely large Korean company made up of about 78 individual companies, and has been in business for over 70 years. Their flagship company, Samsung Electronics, is a leader in high tech electronic manufacturing and digital media.

Samsung has proven to bring innovations to the appliance business especially in refrigeration with the 4 door French door refrigerator and front load laundry. They have made a bigger push in the appliance business because no one in the appliance business is as competitive as Apple.

The Washer

This Samsung washer has Aqua Deep Clean technology which has powerful jets that wash large loads thoroughly. Their Swirl Drum is designed with smaller holes to help prevent fabric form getting caught and damaged. Their VRT- technology consists of a 6-point suspension system and special sensors to keep your load balanced even at high spin speeds. This technology helps to keep the noise level down. Many people are putting their laundry on 2nd floors, so this could be an advantage if it holds true. They do not have a 2nd floor Guarantee of no vibration, like Yale’s preferred laundry, made by Electrolux. They do have a steam Wash and NSF- certified Sanitized cycle. This is made possible by an internal waster heater to achieve higher temperatures, not always found on top loaders. Their 5.2 cu. ft. capacity is capable of very large loads of clothes.

The Sink

The built in sink has a built in water jet on the side, so you have quick and easy access when you need to hand-wash clothes. The machine is also equipped with a rubbing board. This makes it easier to pre-wash and scrub the stained area of the clothes, like cuffs and collars of heavily soiled clothes. Most laundry rooms are tight and restricts the possibility of a laundry sink, with this built-in sink, it saves space and money.

Conclusion

I always think where is there a need for this new product? It's the litmus test for anything new. I like this machine if you have a tight laundry room and need a sink. It's a good application for this unit. Pre-treating stains and pre washing delicate fabrics is also much more effective and better for the clothes, than just dumping the stained clothes into the washer and hoping for the best.

However, you can always stack front load laundry and have room for a sink in new construction. Hybrid top loaders (top loads without an agitator) do not seem to wash as well as front load machines. Perhaps, Samsung can improve performance.

Although this product is interesting, it really has limited advantages.
