The New Bosch Benchmark Speed Microwave Oven (Reviews / Ratings / Price)

A speed oven employs a separate heating element as well as a microwave. The product can be used either as an oven or a microwave.

The “speed” is the combination of both together, which can save 30% of the cooking time.

Speed ovens are popular if you do not need a double oven or have no space for a microwave. This combination would allow for two ovens without placement of a separate microwave. You can also place the speed oven anywhere in an island or cabinet.

Bosch

The Bosch is different from most because it looks like a wall oven. Most brands are countertop microwaves and breathe through a metal trim kit to prevent overheating.

Features

The Bosch Benchmark unit has an option called “Auto Chef”. The Auto Chef has presets for most foods from pork loins to brownies. In addition, the Bosch comes standard with two tier racks, and a full width rack, for plenty of room in a smaller space.

Bosch is 220/240 volt rated, so it is another regular oven. Most convection microwaves like Sharp are 110 Volt and are much slower than the Bosch. Because of its smaller size and 220 volt output, Bosch preheats and cooks even faster than a regular oven.

Installation Options

In addition, there are several installation options. For example, you can purchase a warming drawer, and have it connect directly to the bottom of the microwave. The two units together are the same dimensions as a single wall oven cut out. Whether replacement or new construction, the installation options with steam, microwave and oven combinations are endless.

I think the Benchmark speed oven is a great alternative to a double oven. It is easy to use and incredibly intuitive. You can also place it anywhere. I like it in an island so it is central, accessible and can be used by your teenaged children.
