Two of the most popular names in dishwashers are Bosch and Kenmore.
In fact, if you are buying a dishwasher under $750, you have a 60% chance of buying either.
They are, however, totally different dishwashers. We will look at both companies and both products, then compare at the end.
Kenmore
Kenmore has been sold by the Sears Corporation since 1927. The actual manufacturers of this brand include; Whirlpool, Sanyo, LG, Panasonic, Bosch, Electrolux, GE and Mabe Mexico.
The Kenmore name is sold exclusively at Sears and since 2005, Kmart. They change manufacturers, but this particular dishwasher is actually manufactured by Whirlpool. Sears seems to be under assault on Wall Street.
We consider Sears good competition. They still service what they sell which is an anomaly these days, especially amongst box stores. Their service department is the largest in the area (we are number 3).

Bosch
Bosch is a brand under the BSH Corporation that also includes Thermador and Gaggenau. The BSH Company started when Robert Bosch partnered with the Siemens Company in 1967 and since then became one of the largest home appliance manufacturers in Europe.
Without question, their core product is the dishwasher. Their dishwasher facility in New Byrn, North Carolina is the largest in North America. It is a European functioning dishwasher, yet made in the US.
So let’s compare two of the most popular dishwashers in their lineups.
Bosch SHE53TL5UC

- 46dba
- Aqua stop leak protection
- adjustable upper rack
- LED time remaining display
- 24hr delay wash

Kenmore vs. Bosch Dishwashers
Both are good choices, but you are comparing an American and European styled dishwasher.
The Kenmore will have more cycles. It has a grinder on the bottom to dispose smaller bones whereas Bosch uses a filter. Kenmore is also less expensive and features hidden, integrated controls.
Bosch will heat the water hotter and is 40% quieter than the Kenmore. It also offers 15 settings to Kenmore’s 12. I also like the Aquastop technology. If the dishwasher detects a leak, it will shut the dishwasher off and automatically pump the water out.
Both brands are reliable. However, your service experience seems to differ in case there are issues.
There are very good Sears’s stores and good independent appliance stores. You should check any stores reputation on Google and Yelp before your purchase.
