Kitchen Appliances Before and After

Ocassionally, I like to show before and after shots of a kitchen remodel. This remodel was completed by Kitchen Style Inc.

Let's look before:

If I had to date these appliances, it would be mid-1980s. For the 1980s, this is an upscale kitchen with a large side by side refrigerator, top of the line KitchenAid Superba and Whirlpool compactor. Look at the GE over/under range with cooktop.

Remember most of the products like counter depth refrigerators, European dishwashers and decorative ventilation were not available for another 10 years.

The biggest challenges from an appliance perspective will always be the cooking configuration and the refrigeration. Of these two, focus on the cooking, whether you are considering wall oven/cooktop or a freestanding range.

Now look at the same kitchen after the renovation:

The real improvement is in the island, as it is not a desk anymore. The windows are the main feature in this kitchen, and the views are maintained throughout. They also illuminate very well with three Tech Lighting pendants.

For the appliances, they used Miele for the oven (with interactive MasterChef Controls), the induction cooktop and decorative hood.
