About 10 years ago, the French door refrigerator with two refrigerator doors and a pull out freezer became popular. The refrigerator was now waist high and more accessable. The shorter doors were better in tighter spaces like galley kitchens or around islands. You did not have to contend with a bigger door. Also, the look was different and cool.

About five years ago, double drawers became available. Instead of one drawer, there are now two and the second drawer could be freezer or refrigerator. Samsung and Jenn-Air are popular and have refrigerator drawers. GE has a second freezer. We wrote a post called Best Double Drawer Refrigerators detailing both.

The new Blomberg is really different. It’s like a French door with a side by side bottom. We will compare that to the Samsung.

Blomgberg

Blomberg is a popular in the European household appliances market. Owned by the Turkish Arcelik, it is the 3rd largest appliance manufacturer in Europe. Blomberg has gained a sizeable presence in the average European home with a full array of products. As a widely recognized international name, Blomberg, has established themselves in the United States with production of reasonably priced dishwashers, laundry and refrigerators.

Blomberg's new four door refrigerator BRFD2650SS has a total capacity of 26.5 cubic feet. It has a unique convertible zone to refrigerator or freezer on the bottom right drawer.

Samsung

Samsung is the largest South Korean conglomerate corporation. Appliances are a very small part of Samsung’s overall portfolio of phones and electronics. Samsung is widely known for producing technologically advanced full size laundry and refrigeration.

Samsung was one of the first manufacturers to introduce the middle drawer for the French door style refrigerator. This specific model RF4287HARS is 28 cubic feet and also has the twin cooling system which is two compressors that cool the refrigerator and freezer separately.

The middle drawer is a flexzone drawer where you can adjust the temperature depending one what you put in the drawer whether it is fruits, vegetables, deli meats and cheese or even fruit drinks and waters.

Blomberg vs. Samsung Four Door Refrigerator

They are both interesting products. They both have independent evaporators for each zone. Blomberg has three. Samsung has two. They are both fingerprint free and both use LED lighting.

I like the Samsung because you are not bending as much with a drawer. The brand is certainly more recognized as well.

Blomberg is interesting on many levels. It is different, so your kitchen will not look like your neighbors. I like the convertibility of the bottom right compartment in case you need more refrigeration. It also has a Blue UV crisper light. Blue UV allows fruits and veggies to continue photosynthesis preserving freshness and vitamin content.

WHY SHOULD YOU TRUST US?

A few review sites have placed this at the bottom of their articles. So here is our take: Our mission is to find reliable products for you to buy. Other review sites may say this as well.

However, we don’t love every product. Quite frankly, it costs us way too much money in repair costs to support less reliable brands.

In fact, we sell fewer brands than most appliance stores. Here is why:

We feel it is our responsibility to repair your appliances after you buy them.

We now have 30 service technicians, each averaging 8-10 calls a day Monday through Friday, plus another 110 on Saturday. That's over 30,000 service calls logged in one year.

The labor rates of fixing an appliance do not come close to the true cost in any product’s warranty period.

That is why no major retailer has a service department. It costs too much labor, money and time.

Our Blog is a bit different than most others you will read. We cannot write glowing reviews of unreliable products.

Hopefully, the bloggers and organizations who write such glowing product reviews for every brand consider servicing these products first. Only then they will understand the consequences of their marketing.
