Jenn-Air vs GE Cafe Cabinet Depth French Door Refrigerators (Reviews/Ratings)

January 7th, 2013 | 2 min. read

By Steve Sheinkopf

Cabinet depth refrigerators fit into standard 24 inch deep cabinets with only the doors protruding. A regular counter depth has the custom look of other built in refrigerator at a fraction of the price.

Both are the cornerstone of decent yet affordable packages.

Jenn-Air

Jenn-Air has emerged from the doldrums of the Maytag aquisition with a 300 million investment from new parent Whirlpool. It has been repositioned from affordable to luxury with the emphasis on cooking. Their French door refrigerator is the most popular product due to aggressive rebates.

Jenn-Air has two different sizes and three models to choose from, a 70" and 72" tall. The 70 inch is available with and without an external dispenser and has Euro or Pro style handles as options or a custom overlay to accept your own cabinets and handles.

GE Cafe

GE Cafe is a premium line of GE. Like Jenn-Air, GE Cafe is mostly known for their range and cooking. The Cafe refrigerator is very similar to their other counter depth product albeit with different handles.

GE Café has two cabinet depth French door bottom freezers, they are both 70 inches tall with one having an external ice and water dispenser and the other having an internal water dispenser. Both models are available in stainless steel only.

Jenn-Air also offers more color options and handle styles and with the current rebates are much less expensive. Jenn-Air is also Energy Star qualified, both GE Café models are not.
