In this article, you’ll learn about the six best wall ovens and the reasons to consider each one.
Next, we’ll cover how to size your wall oven properly. While most new constructions use a standard 30-inch width, older installations can vary significantly.
Although double ovens are the most popular choice, we’ll explore other options you might prefer.
This guide will provide an all-encompassing overview of what to buy, how to buy it, and additional factors to consider when choosing a wall oven.
By the end, you’ll have a clear idea of which wall oven is the best fit for your needs.

OK, rant over.
Now, let’s get started.
Gaggenau makes the best-engineered wall oven. Founded in the 19th century, Gaggenau has French origins but is now owned by the German BSH company.
It's also the most reliable wall oven brand for 2025, with not a single unit requiring service in the last 12 months.
In fact, only one Gaggenau oven has been serviced in the past two years.
Extensive Cooking Modes
With 17 cooking modes, Gaggenau offers flexibility for virtually any cooking or baking method.
Whether you want to proof dough, make pizza, or use a rotisserie, Gaggenau is an excellent choice to consider.
Controls
You also have exceptional control with Gaggenau ovens.
You can adjust the cooking process on the fly without disrupting or restarting it, and the rotary dial allows precise control over baking and bottom heat levels.
Design
The industrial design is unlike any other oven on the market. Four layers of glass prevent heat fluctuations and ensure the oven is safe to touch at all times.
The side-swing door opens 180 degrees, so you never have to lift heavy dishes over a traditional door.
Built-In Rotisserie
Plus, the lower oven features a built-in rotisserie spit, perfect for adventurous cooks or skilled chefs who enjoy experimenting with new techniques.
Price: The Gaggenau double oven is priced over $12,000. For that amount, you could purchase five standard double ovens.
Usability: The Gaggenau oven offers more range with its various cooking modes. However, it lacks the guided cooking features found in other brands, which can make it less user-friendly.
The Wolf M-Series offers three distinctive styles: professional, contemporary, and transitional.
VertiFlow Convection System
These ovens feature the advanced VertiFlow convection technology, which combines two fans and two heating elements to ensure even heat distribution throughout the cavity.
The blowers are more powerful than fans and with more even heat distribution, top-to-bottom and side-to-side, while maximizing usable space in your oven.
Wolf Gourmet Guided Cooking System
The Wolf Gourmet feature includes 50 preset programs for popular dishes, allowing the oven to handle the cooking for you.
Simply select the type of food, its weight, and your preferred doneness.
The oven will calculate the ideal time and temperature, even prompting you to use the correct rack position.
While the Wolf wall oven offers many impressive features, it comes with a high price tag and lacks a steam-assist function, which is available in the next brand discussed.
Miele has a distinctive modern design.
Twin Convection System
They feature twin convection with two fans to ensure even temperature distribution.
MasterChef Guided Cooking System
The MasterChef controls are similar to the Wolf Gourmet guided cooking system.
You select the food and weight, and the oven calculates the ideal time and temperature. However, Miele offers a larger library of recipes and baking options.
Moisture Plus
Miele’s moisture function injects up to three bursts of steam during a cooking cycle. Since it’s directly plumbed, there’s no need for tank refilling.
Steam and moisture allow for a different cooking experience. You can harden crusts and access 17 automatic settings specifically for bread.
Meat also roasts better with added moisture compared to dry heat alone.
Miele now features Wi-Fi connectivity, and their app performs reliably.
Wireless Probe
Unlike other brands, Miele’s probe is wireless, allowing you to insert it anywhere in your dish without restrictions. (Note: You can buy wireless probes separately.)
Camera
While it might seem excessive, Miele’s single M-Series wall oven includes a built-in camera that lets you monitor your food via the app without opening the oven door and losing heat.
This feature is not available in the double wall oven.
Reliability
Miele manufactures most of its components in-house rather than outsourcing, which is common with other brands.
When comparing these two wall ovens, the Wolf option stands out as it uses VertiFlow convection technology.
On the other hand, Miele's wall oven features a steam assist function that can improve your cooking experience.
One of the most convenient features of Miele's oven is the ability to leave the racks inside during the cleaning process.
Meanwhile, Wolf offers the M Series Professional wall oven, which features knobs that many users find intuitive and easy to use.
Ultimately, choosing between these two ovens will depend on your specific cooking needs and personal preferences.

The Café Appliances wall oven features a French door design. French doors make it easier to access your food by eliminating the need to reach over a drop-down door.
Many restaurants use French doors to safely access larger food items. They also provide more space between the oven and the kitchen island.
Capacity
The Café Appliances wall oven features a large five-cubic-foot interior in both ovens.
Precision Cooking Modes
It also includes automatic precision cooking modes, which eliminate the need for pre-heating, and convection cooking with direct air.
Unlike other ovens, Café’s convection system forces air down from the top to ensure even cooking.
Air Fry
The Café wall oven features an air fryer that uses high heat and convection to crisp food without oil.
However, we haven’t found any manufacturer’s air frying mode that produces perfect results.
Want to air fry effectively? Consider a tabletop model where air moves faster in a smaller space.
Wi-Fi
French doors provide more space between the oven and kitchen islandThe SmartHQ app connects with Café’s Wi-Fi-enabled ovens, allowing you to turn the oven on and off remotely.
Modes like Steakhouse and Turkey can even be added wirelessly after purchase.
7-Inch Screen
The Café oven also includes a large, full-color, 7-inch control screen that shuts off when not in use.
Customization
Reliability
Café ranked number three for reliability on our list at 3.4%.
Service
GE’s in-house service department is available to address any issues, which is a significant advantage since many stores do not offer repair services.
While it’s a great option, the Café oven doesn’t have the same functionality as the first three ovens on our list. You can also opt for the Profile version, which offers similar features at a lower price.
It’s hard to find anything negative about the LG Studio double wall oven, even at its price of $3,799.
Capacity
Each oven offers 4.7 cubic feet of space, totaling 9.4 cubic feet of cooking capacity.
Controls
The oven features a 7-inch glass screen, giving you access to over 80 cooking modes and recipes.
Reliability
LG may be newer to the wall oven market, but it has ranked as one of Yale’s most reliable brands for three consecutive years.
LG ThinQ
With LG ThinQ, you can start or stop your oven, set timers, and monitor it from anywhere, making your cooking experience more convenient.
Voice Activation
The oven integrates seamlessly with Alexa and Google Assistant, allowing you to control it using simple voice commands.
Scan to Cook
This feature lets you scan and send cooking instructions directly to the oven for pre-packaged meals, simplifying meal prep.
InstaView
With just two quick taps on the oven door, the interior light turns on, letting you check your food without opening the door and losing heat.
True Convection
Both ovens feature true convection, which uses a third heating element located behind the fan to ensure even cooking.
Each oven includes five racks and a 2000-watt heating element for powerful performance.
LG ProBake
LG’s ProBake technology moves the baking element from the bottom to the back wall, reducing the risk of burning food.
The oven also features a powerful broiler, great for crisping and browning.
Lighting and Viewing
Two bright lights and a large window allow you to monitor your food without opening the door.
EasyClean and Self-Clean
The EasyClean function quickly cleans the oven in just 20 minutes using water and a cleaning agent. For tougher messes, there’s also a traditional self-cleaning option.
Save Your Favorite Recipes
You can save up to 80 recipes, making it easy to recreate your favorite dishes with minimal effort.
Auto Cook Modes
The top oven features 45 auto cook modes, while the bottom oven offers 44. Each mode is displayed with helpful pictures on the screen.
Steam Cooking in the Upper Oven
The top oven includes a water reservoir for steam cooking, keeping food moist and ideal for steam baking or sous vide cooking.
Sous vide uses steam to cook food slowly in a sealed bag, preserving more flavors and nutrients.
Little-known fact: Most major brands, like GE and Whirlpool, didn’t produce gas ranges until the late 1980s.
I know—I was at Yale in the late 1980s.
BlueStar has been doing this for 130 years.
Gas Wall Oven
Many premium brands never manufactured a gas wall oven, and I always wondered why.
Electric ovens are more precise and better for baking, while gas is superior for roasting and broiling.
We’ve mentioned that Miele excels at steam cooking, but gas naturally provides a moister heat than traditional electric, making it ideal for roasting.
Colors
BlueStar offers 1,000 colors and ten trim packages. If that’s not enough, you can even customize it with a color of your own.
Broiling
BlueStar uses a 15,000 BTU infrared ceramic broiler.
Infrared broilers provide a much better sear because the heat is directed, unlike regular gas, which diffuses heat and is less effective.
For context, the sear element on the $10,000 Lynx Pro grill is a 23,000 BTU infrared burner.
French Door
Like the Café, BlueStar’s French door design eliminates the need to lift a heavy turkey over the oven door.
Sizes
BlueStar offers gas wall ovens in 24, 30, and 36-inch sizes. This means you can replace a smaller existing wall oven or opt for an oversized unit to meet your needs.
You’ll want to see the BlueStar in person because it protrudes farther than any other wall oven.
Also, BlueStar embraces a low-tech, non-smart approach to cooking. Whether that aligns with your style or not depends on your attitude toward technology.

In 2024, we logged over 33,000 service calls. We calculate appliance reliability by dividing the products we serviced by the products we sold.
Gaggenau wall ovens are the most reliable, closely followed by Café Appliances and Miele.

Wall ovens need repair just slightly less than the average appliance with a service rate of 8.3%. It's surprising as most are sold as double ovens.
Many issues are installation and customer education oriented.
However, wall ovens have more complicated controls, yet there are not many experienced technicians to fix these incredibly complex units.
Before you buy a wall oven, you need to know who will fix your new appliances.
Installation and service are the two most important considerations once you choose an oven. Research each store to make sure they are competent in both installation and service.
Extended appliance warranties will not help you unless a service department backs them. Most warranties are not backed by much of anything.

Wall ovens are available in 24, 27, 30, and 36 inches to fit standard cabinet sizes. For new construction, 30 inches is over 90% of units sold nationally.
Twenty-four and 27-inch wall ovens are mostly bought as a replacement for existing ovens.
Twenty-four inches is the most common gas wall oven size, while 27 inches is more commonly electric.
Thirty-six inches is a specialty with premium brands like Gaggenau and BlueStar.
Electric ovens are far more common, and over 95% of units are sold as electric.
Gas is mostly replaced at 24 inches. Unlike ranges, there are only a few good gas-wall ovens on the market.
As we mentioned earlier, gas ovens are better for broiling and roasting. Electric ovens are more consistent and better for baking.
You will probably end up with an electric oven because of the sheer selection.
The real question is, do you need a double oven?
When my parents left our home in Needham, they moved into a condo in Jamaica Plain. (Coincidentally, I rented an apartment there 36 years later.)
Their new kitchen features two ovens and a microwave. The wall oven still had packaging on the inside when they left four years later.
Now you can buy a single oven, place a steam or speed oven over it, and cook differently.
Choosing between having a double wall oven or a single oven depends on how much you will use that second oven.
If the answer is never or rarely, buy a single oven with a speed or steam oven.
You must assess what you need, what you will use, and where it fits in your kitchen.
Here is what you can do by adding a specialty oven:
Steam cooking is pretty amazing. I own a steam oven and everything I cook is so much more flavorful out of a steam oven.
Steam doesn't dehydrate food like a regular oven. It's also a healthier way to cook.
Steam doesn’t bake nutrients out of your food in addition to adding flavor.
Speed ovens combine microwave and convection cooking.
You can use the functions separately or combine them for speed without the rubbery texture of using a microwave.
You can add a warming drawer to keep food warm for up to three hours without dehydrating it. You can place a drawer under your oven.
This is especially useful if you and your family eat at different times.
If you're looking for the best wall oven, you may be overwhelmed and think all wall ovens look similar these days.
But there's no such thing as the best wall oven because no single product has guided cooking, steam assist, and smart home functionality.
Ultimately, it depends on what you value and how you cook.
Gaggenau has the most modes for any cooking.
If you cook professionally or creatively, Gaggenau is a good consideration. You're paying more for better functionality in a wall oven.
With guided cooking modes, Miele and Wolf will figure out the time and temperature for you versus you figuring it out yourself.
The Wolf Gourmet system with rack settings may be the best.
LG Studio has a lower-priced double-wall oven with surprisingly good features for less money.
