Every month at Yale we offer 4-piece appliance packages that include a refrigerator, a range, an over-the-range microwave and a dishwasher. The pricing on these packages reflect all mail-in rebates and discounts offered for purchasing all of these together. Our recommendation list really intersects overall product preference plus value of rebates. In other words, if the $600 dishwasher is good, the same dishwasher at $450 is better.
Let's look at GE Cafe vs Jenn-Air...
Jenn-Air
Jenn-Air started as an independent company in Indianapolis. They were mostly known for convection, cooking and downdraft ventilation. After being acquired by Maytag in the early 1990s, Jenn-Air languished until Whirlpool purchased Maytag 10 years later.
Whirlpool has invested 300 million into the Jenn-Air brand, mostly in cooking and has been the most aggressive in rebates in the appliance industry. Most other companies have followed Jenn-Air (along with Frigidaire and Thermador) in aggressively rebating their products especially in the affordable luxury niche.
GE Cafe
GE Cafe was one of the most successful appliance product launches of all time about 7 years ago. It successfully amalgamated a commercial appearance in an affordable luxury niche. Others have followed like Electrolux, Frigidaire Pro, Viking D3 as well as Jenn-Air, but Cafe was the first.

Both packages are similar and both really revolve around the range. Both the the Cafe and Jenn-Air have two power burners, but Cafe has a fifth burner as well as an oven below the main. Jenn-Air has a warming drawer. Jenn-Air, however, is a true slide-in range. In other words, there is no seam between the range and cabinets so it is much easier to clean.
Most of the features of the other appliances are similar. I like the Jenn-Air dishwasher, because it is really manufactured by KitchenAid, Jenn-Air's sister company.
Then there is the 33% price difference between the two, worth $2200.
