Gas slide-in ranges have changed over the years with added features. You can still buy basic slide-in ranges from Frigidaire, Whirlpool, GE, and LG.
However, the better slide-ins from KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Samsung, and GE Profile add features like fifth burners, convection, and better aesthetics.
GE Profile and Samsung compete on an even higher tier because they offer double ovens in their ranges.
You will learn a bit about both companies, their products, and then we will compare them at the end.
After less than 10 years in the US, Samsung is now the most widely sold single brand in the US.
Samsung, in my opinion, was the first to design truly beautiful, edgy products. Their suites quite simply look better than other brands.
Their products are functional and reliable. Samsung has been on our most reliable list for three years now. We had over 30,000 service calls in 2017 for appliances.
Here's a tip to buying Samsung appliances: Look to purchase their products during holidays like Memorial Day and Labor Day where the prices can be 20%-30% less.
GE is one of the oldest American appliance companies, founded in 1892 by Thomas Edison. However, since 2016 they are owned by Haier of China.
In many ways, GE is the polar opposite of Samsung. They have older, more traditional designs and target builders more so than consumers.
We have not sold GE since 2013, but they still are a decent product line.
Here is a tip to buying GE: They have a little-known "Friends and Family" Plan. You can buy their appliances online for 20-30% less through GE directly.
Now let's look at the products.
Features:
Sounds too good to be true but the Samsung NX58K9850SS carries a lot for itself with a very fast boil to a low simmer on the dual-stacked burner. With 22K BTU it's more power than most pro-style ranges have to offer. The oversized griddle burner offers even heat for pancakes and grill cheese with ease.
Features:
The generously sized oven offers versatile baking needs. 21K BTU will provide a substantially fast boil and drop to an instant low simmer without having to move your pot to different surface positions. The edge to edge cooktop surface does provide additional surface space for your pots and pans.
Having a double oven can offer versatile baking abilities with a very similar output. GE's oven is two separate ovens with the upper oven for broiling and baking and the lower oven for baking only with convection.
The Samsung Flex-Duo has a removable divider converting the oven from a full-size oven to two separate ovens.

These ranges are pretty much the same. However, other factors are not.
During holidays, Samsung can be 30% less. However, if you are or can find a GE Friend or Family Plan, you can save 30%.
Thirty percent in either direction should sway your decision. You may also want to look at appliance packages. Samsung has better refrigerators. GE has better over-the-range microwaves.
You may want to think about reliability and service. Samsung is reliable. I cannot comment on GE. Depending on who fixes or rather can fix either should be considered as well because it varies by region and dealer.
