To recap our previous articles, we've already focused on light fixtures for the Traditionally styled dining rooms and Contemporary styled dining rooms.

Today we will be discussing Transitional design style. This aesthetic is seen as the bridge between traditional and modern design. Transitional brings some historical elements from traditional design and mixes it with clean lines. Its seen as a little more relaxed and eclectic as an aesthetic than traditional and modern designs.

This transitional dining room combines several different styles. For example, the chairs read as a good mix between modern and traditional. They have the angles and curves of some traditional design, but are wrapped up in clean-lined fabric with simple legs. The table feels more traditional to me, but by mixing the bench with the chairs, it adds interest by deviating from the typical setting.

A great place to start with chandelier selection would be the Forged Leaves Five Light Chandelier by Hubbardton Forge. This simple, yet natural and elegant design would complement the darkest tones in the space, as well as the gentle curves in the chairs and accessories. The graceful leaf pattern would add to the organic modern feel of this space.

To capture the feel of the cages on the table, I would recommend using the Laila Four Light Cage Chandelier by Quoizel. Its dark finish works well in the space, as well tying in the same elements as the accessories in the space. $330

Quoizel Laila LLA5205RA - $330

To add a little color to the space, I might introduce the Alberto Five Light Chandelier by Currey and Company. The teal wood beads on this chandelier would be a nice element to bring more interest and color into the space. I think it would be a great eclectic piece to stand out in the room.

Given the sort of rustic table, I would recommend a rustic styled chandelier to go along with that theme. The Plantation Chandelier with 6 Lights by Quoizel would certainly work well in this space. It reflects some of the same angles found under the table nicely, but also add shape to the space. There are many different shapes, such as the circular wall designs, the square windows, and the triangles found in the corners of the table. Why not add another shape to the mix??$520

Quoizel Plantation PTN5006DK - $520

Another great choice would be the Six Light Solaris Chandelier by Crystorama. This chandelier not only complements the colors in the space without being overwhelming, but it also echoes the wire basket candle holders on the table. This is one of our most popular transitional chandeliers. The iron could also be connected to the space by the iron found in the links connecting the supports under the table.

One last choice could be the vertical Flora Five-Light chandelier by Hubbardton Forge. This chandelier is unique in its arm shapes and yet, very elegant in the way it cascades downward. I think if it was done in a dark smoke finish with the pearl glass, it would be stunning in this space and help to pull everything in together.
