LED tape is so compact and has such a great lifespan it can be installed in the smallest of spaces and the tallest of buildings. It employs a lamp that has a lifespan of 30-50,000 hours (compared to incandescent 750-2,000 hours) which is up to a 12-year lamp life meaning minimal maintenance.

The energy consumption is almost a 1/8th of an incandescent lamp (8.5 watts LED = 60-watt Incandescent) and meets or exceeds energy consumption.

We will look at what LED tape is, its many uses and applications as well as new products.

What is LED Tape?

LED tape employs small clusters of light points (Light Emitting Diodes) into a small envelope resulting in a high output light utilizing very low wattage, with a long lifespan, a good color rendering, and multiple kelvin temperatures.

It even can create every color in the rainbow with color on demand or RGB LED’s that can be remotely controlled or programmed to change with music.

So, what is new in LED Tape Lighting?

Until now, linear tape light has had its restrictions, especially when you want to turn a corner or wrap a beam, or even mimic a shape with lighting. Now you can do all that in one continuous run, so it is way simpler to install.

GM Lighting has created Twist-Task high output flexible LED tape. This product is segmented, which sounds so simple but really is so ingenious.

This segmentation enables you to create intricate mounting applications by allowing you to bend the tape to follow complex shapes and forms.

You can go around sharp curves and angles without having to start and reconnect with leads and accessories as in the past…just keep on going; make that 90-degree corner without a break. 2.2 high output watts p/ft, with a 90+ CRI, gives you 190-207 lumens p/ft depending on the Kelvin temperature used.

It is still necessary to wire back to a 12VDC power supply, and maximum continuous run lengths are 17’ per lead but can be joined for longer multiple runs exceeding 17’ to complete you footage requirement just size your wire according.

Twist-Task mounts with the dependable 3M adhesive back mounting as in previous generations. Also, if needed, this can be cut every 4” or every 6 LED’s and rejoined again using tape to tape connectors.

Sure-Tite™ LED Tape Connectors

Twist-Task comes in a variety of color temperatures ranging from 2,700 to 4,200 Kelvin. It is dimmable with the appropriate low voltage dimmer and has a 5-year manufacturer’s warranty.

A few review sites have placed this at the bottom of their articles. So here is our take: Our mission is to find reliable products for you to buy. Other review sites may say this as well.

However, we don’t love every product. Quite frankly, it costs us way too much money in repair costs to support less reliable brands.

In fact, we sell fewer brands than most appliance stores. Here is why:

We feel it is our responsibility to repair your appliances after you buy them.

We now have 30 service technicians, each averaging 8-10 calls a day Monday through Friday, plus another 110 on Saturday. That's over 30,000 service calls logged in one year.

The labor rates of fixing an appliance do not come close to the true cost in any product’s warranty period.

That is why no major retailer has a service department. It costs too much labor, money and time.

Our Blog is a bit different than most others you will read. We cannot write glowing reviews of unreliable products.

Hopefully, the bloggers and organizations who write such glowing product reviews for every brand consider servicing these products first. Only then they will understand the consequences of their marketing.
