Welcome to another Makeover Monday:  Every Monday, we show examples of kitchens and baths to highlight different techniques, trends and products. Hopefully, it will help with your renovation or remodel

Light layering is incorporating different lighting elements into your space. The four elements are task (recessed or track providing functional lighting), accent (highlighting different areas or objects), decorative (chandeliers, pendants or sconces) and ambient (uplighting to provide environmental lighting).

Layering lighting elements provides depth and feeling to your space.

Let's look at this kitchen. It's gloss white with white granite, green tile backsplash and dark floors.

First, the kitchen unlit.

Here's the kitchen fully illuminated with Nora LED recessed, Legrand under cabinet lighting, Tech Lighting pendants and under cabinet tape in the island.

Here are a few details I especially like.

Under Cabinet Lighting

The backsplash is free of receptacles, because the Legrand system incorporates lights and the electrical.

Island Lighting

Just some simple LED tape to gently illuminate underneath the island.

The lighting is pretty impressive. I would have looked at different pendants or placed some lights on top of the cabinets to light the ceiling for ambient lighting.

I also like the larger island, which acommodates the wine cooler, dishwasher, 36 inch pro stove, drawer microwave and refrigerator. We will look at appliances specifically another Makeover Monday.

The hood, however, is different, because it is a Miele with color changing LEDs in the visor. Look at the pics
