We have been writing about LED for 3-4 years. LED seems to have finally reached its potential in decorative bathroom lighting.
To review, LED is:
Incredibly Long Lasting. LED will last 50,000 hours or 13.7 years if on for 10 hours a day. Incandescent lasts about 750-1500 hours or about 5 months if left on for 10 hours a day. You will save a fortune in bulb replacements.
Incredibly Energy Efficient. A 32 watt LED is now almost 50% brighter at 1060 Lumens than an incandescent 75 watt at just over 600 lumens (lumens is what the eye can see).
Kelvin Quality. The early LEDs were bluish, but the new bulbs are roughly equivalent to a low voltage bulb at 3000 Kelvin. Be careful, there are still many poor color rendering LEDs
Not Fluorescent. LED does not contain mercury, can be dimmed, lasts longer and is a much better light source.
