The Advantages of Steam

There a lot of advantages to cooking with steam over other cooking methods. Cooking with steam better preserves the texture of your food along with vitamins and nutrients. This results in healthier cooking. In addition, the food will maintain its moisture, adding flavor without butter or oil.

Steam cooking can be used for almost anything. It’s usually faster, and more energy efficient. Because steam adds moisture, it is especially great for delicate foods like scallops or for creating flaky crusts on croissants or pastries.

Reheating in steam is also better as you are not "rebaking" the moisture out of the food. In addition, there will not be any odor or flavor transfer between foods. You could potentially cook, salmon, rice and vegetables at the same time, and all will still maintain their original flavors.

Let’s compare Gaggeneau vs Miele Steam Ovens.

Both brands are German. The difference is price and features as these brands use steam differently.  Also, are you able to plumb the unit directly to water? Connecting to an existing water line is preferred, because you will not have to interrupt a cooking cycle to add water.

Mieles new oven can now be used as a convection as well as a steam oven

Below are some major differences between the two brands, in bullet point.

At first glance, Gaggenau is a better unit. The side swing door is a nice advantage, because you can access the food easier. It is a more robust unit with the ability to connect directly to a water source, whereas water needs to be added to the Miele piece.

However, Miele has its virtues with price being the most apparent at $3,300 less. The Miele oven also has the easy to use MasterChef controls, so it is really simple to use.

The repair rating for both companies is an identical and incredible 2.9% service within the first year

WHY SHOULD YOU TRUST US?

A few review sites have placed this at the bottom of their articles. So here is our take: Our mission is to find reliable products for you to buy. Other review sites may say this as well.

However, we don’t love every product. Quite frankly, it costs us way too much money in repair costs to support less reliable brands.

In fact, we sell fewer brands than most appliance stores. Here is why:

We feel it is our responsibility to repair your appliances after you buy them.

We now have 30 service technicians, each averaging 8-10 calls a day Monday through Friday, plus another 110 on Saturday. That's over 30,000 service calls logged in one year.

The labor rates of fixing an appliance do not come close to the true cost in any product’s warranty period.

That is why no major retailer has a service department. It costs too much labor, money and time.

Our Blog is a bit different than most others you will read. We cannot write glowing reviews of unreliable products.

Hopefully, the bloggers and organizations who write such glowing product reviews for every brand consider servicing these products first. Only then they will understand the consequences of their marketing.
