Induction is the fastest cooking product (yes even faster than the hottest pro range) as well as the most responsive. It is also the most child safe.
There are plenty of induction cooktops and freestanding ranges, yet few decent slide-in products are available. We show the best plus features to consider in this video.
Induction cooking offers some really amazing benefits over conventional ranges. Induction is quick to respond, energy efficient, the most child-safe and requires less venting.
Relatively few companies like Dacor, GE, Frigidaire, Electrolux and Bosch Benchmark actually manufacture induction slide-in ranges.
The advantage of an induction slide-in to a freestanding is really about style. A slide-in range allows you to see the custom tile or backsplash in your kitchen. Also, the controls are on the front so there’s no reaching over a hot burner. It’s also easy to clean because the range is built over the countertop eliminating seams for crumbs and liquids to fall into.
As I said only a few brands offer an induction slide-in and there are three I would like to focus on.
Electrolux…the styling is modern and the product is incredibly intuitive. The controls feature 10 automatic settings like dehydrating fruit and proofing. There is even a Perfect Turkey setting for Thanksgiving. Electrolux also has a second oven under the main compartment, so now you have two independent ovens when needed.
Next up is the relatively new Bosch Benchmark. It has more power on the top than the Electrolux, so it will be faster. Bosch has very good controls, but is not quite as intuitive as the Electrolux. Benchmark features a warming drawer below which can keep food warm up to two hours. I really like the Bosch reliability and package rebate opportunities. If you are looking for a whole kitchen Bosch should be a consideration.
The best value in induction slide-ins could be Frigidaire. Frigidaire still offers convection and a warming drawer like Bosch, just at a much cheaper price. Frigidaire is also one of the least serviced brands at Yale.
