Thermador vs Viking D3 Wall Ovens (Reviews/Ratings/Prices)

Wall ovens still confuse people. A wall oven is easy to understand when you consider it's a  cooking product without the burners, which fits into a wall. Wall ovens fit cabinet sizes of 24", 27" and the most common of 30 inch. For this post, we will compare Vikings new D3 versus one of the most popular ovens in Thermador.

Thermador

Thermador is a divison of the giant Bosch company and offers two styles, the Masterpiece or Professional. The function of both is the same, but the appearance is different. Thermador's main selling points are its low service rate at 10% within the first year and its rebate promotion. Buy a double wall oven and a cooktop and Thermador rebates their $1,200 dishwasher for free.

Viking D3

D3 is the most inquired appliance line in the industry. It is Viking's third attempt (read Viking D3 vs Viking Designer to see the differences) of a lower price, affordable luxury line. D3 is smart looking and offers customization of knobs and handles and Viking actually priced the D3 correctly as well.

Features

Thermador has a new soft-close oven door, as well as the largest capacity of any luxury brand. Their preheat time is the fastest (7 minutes) in this segment. They also feature a super fast 2 hour self-clean mode.

Viking D3 has the strongest warranty at three years. They have the largest convection fan blade in their ovens, which offers steady and even temperature.

Winner

I like them both. Viking deserves credit for their product reemphasis, warranty and distinctive look as well as the customization. However, Thermador has the best service rate in the mass premium as well as the best promotion with the free dishwasher.
